Zamima (Urdu: ضمیمہ) means supplement edition of any publication e.g a newspaper or even a wesite. In Pakistan the word is usually used for the supplement edition of newspapers.

Before the advent of private run 24 hours news television stations in the country, leading newspapers would always publish a supplement edition or zamima whenever there is a breaking story. Zamimas were sold like hot cake in metropolis especially in Karachi. Their layout was crudely designed and printing was sometimes very rough but they were great source of information for the people at the time when only state-run television and radios were on air.

However, when private TV channels begun delivering news to the homes, round the clock, zamimas extinguished. Still the word -in its old sense -means a publication to timely deliver information and give special attention to some of the issues. And so it inspires me. It is not that this blog is going to be some kind of news-website but hopefully it would carry some good information.
